Privacy Policy — Klavis Piano (Beta)

1. Who is responsible (Controller)

2. The short version

Klavis Piano is a local-first web app. The sheet music you import and all practice data stay in your own browser and are never sent to us. The only personal data we process is the minimum needed to run the website (handled by our hosting provider), privacy-friendly aggregate analytics, and anything you choose to send us through the feedback form.

3. Data stored only on your device (we never receive it)

Imported sheet music (.mxl/.xml/.musicxml), practice error logs, and app settings are stored in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) on your device. We do not transmit, collect, back up, or have any access to this data. You can erase it at any time by clearing your browser data for this site.

4. Hosting & security (Cloudflare)

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect against attacks, Cloudflare processes standard connection data (including your IP address) and sets strictly-necessary security cookies. Cloudflare acts as our processor; data may be processed on servers outside Switzerland/the EU (incl. the USA) under appropriate safeguards (Cloudflare's Data Processing Addendum and EU-US/Swiss-US Data Privacy Framework certification). Legal basis: our legitimate interest in operating a secure website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f); equivalent Swiss FADP basis).

5. Usage analytics (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless, privacy-friendly tool, to measure aggregate visits, page views, approximate country, and referrers. It sets no tracking cookies, does not build user profiles, and does not track you across sites. Legal basis: legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

6. Feedback form

If you use our feedback link, it opens a form hosted by Google Forms. Any information you enter there (e.g. your message and, if you provide it, your email) is processed by that provider as our processor to receive and respond to your feedback. Providing it is voluntary (consent / legitimate interest). We keep feedback only as long as needed to act on it.

7. Klavis Piano Library (library.klavispiano.com)

The Klavis Piano Library hosts public-domain and CC0-licensed piano scores sourced from the open PDMX dataset, which in turn was compiled from MuseScore. Play counts, ratings, and favorites displayed in the Library originate from MuseScore and are included in the PDMX dataset. We do not collect or store additional metadata about these scores beyond what is provided in the dataset. The Library is hosted on Cloudflare under the same terms as the main app. When you use the "Import to Klavis Piano" feature, the score file is fetched from our servers and stored locally in your browser — we do not track which scores you import. If you believe any score infringes your copyright, please contact support@klavispiano.com with details and we will remove it.

8. International transfers

Cloudflare and Google may process data in the USA and other countries, under the safeguards noted above (Data Privacy Framework / Standard Contractual Clauses).

9. Retention

We store no user accounts or files. Server/security logs and analytics are retained only for the limited periods set by our providers.

10. Your rights

Under the Swiss FADP and, where applicable, the EU GDPR you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability regarding personal data we hold about you, and you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Switzerland: the FDPIC; in the EU: your local authority). Because we hold no account or file data, most of "your data" lives only on your device and is fully under your control — clear your browser data to delete it. 11. Children

Klavis Piano is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect children's personal data.

12. Changes

We may update this policy at any time, and the "Last updated" date will change accordingly. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.

Terms of Service — Klavis Piano

1. Acceptance

These Terms govern your use of Klavis Piano ("the Service"). By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service is a free beta

Klavis Piano is provided free of charge as an experimental beta prototype. We make no guarantees about uptime, bug-free operation, accuracy, or feature permanence, and may change or discontinue it at any time.

3. Eligibility

You must be old enough to form a binding agreement in your country (and at least the minimum age where required by law). The Service is not intended for children.

4. Local data storage & your responsibility (important)

Klavis Piano is local-first: every file you import (.mxl/.xml/.musicxml) and all practice data are stored only in your own browser/device. We do not back them up. If you clear your browser data, use private/incognito mode, or switch browser or device, this data will be permanently deleted. The Service is provided "as is"; to the extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim liability for any loss, corruption, or deletion of your files or data. You are solely responsible for keeping your own original copies.

5. Your content & copyright

You keep all rights to the files you import. By importing files into your local player, you warrant that you have the legal right to use, view, and practice with them. Because files never leave your device, we neither host nor have access to them.

5a. Klavis Piano Library content

The Klavis Piano Library provides piano scores from the PDMX dataset, filtered to include only compositions in the public domain and arrangements released under CC0 or Public Domain Mark. View counts, ratings, and favorites are from MuseScore. We make a good-faith effort to ensure all scores are in the public domain, but cannot guarantee the copyright status of every piece. If you believe any score infringes your rights, contact support@klavispiano.com and we will promptly remove it. Scores downloaded or imported from the Library are stored locally on your device.

6. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the Service or attempt to disrupt, attack, or reverse-engineer its security.

7. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind and we exclude liability for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law (e.g. for intent or gross negligence, or injury to life or health).

8. Future versions & monetization

This local-only beta is free. We may release future versions with accounts, cloud sync, and paid premium subscriptions. Data stored in this local beta will not automatically migrate to any future cloud version.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms at any time, and the "Last updated" date will change accordingly. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.

10. Governing law & jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Swiss law; the exclusive place of jurisdiction is Zurich, Switzerland. Mandatory consumer-protection rights of consumers in their country of residence remain unaffected.
